What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
Perhaps you've lost the Nissan key fob or it just stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back and look at where you last used it.
It's not difficult to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is an essential element of the car's sophisticated keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronics to open doors and turn on the engine. It also features an attractive design, making it easy to carry in your pocket. Key fobs also come with other convenience features, such as security against lockouts. This feature will ensure that you don't accidentally leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs that required you to put the key in an ignition slot to gain access to your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys function wirelessly. When you approach the vehicle, your Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can be as simple as opening or locking the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, and even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models are equipped with a valet key hidden in the metal. The key can be removed from a release located on the back of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to valet. The Smart Key fob also features an charging pocket that can be used to recharge the battery when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, you probably need to replace its batteries. Most fobs are powered by CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions to change the batteries can be found in your owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can open the doors of your car and start its engine with a push of one button. You can also set up presets to meet your preferences. For instance, you can adjust the mirrors and seat for maximum comfort. You can also manage the music via your smartphone, meaning you'll never have to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna that sends out an alert when you approach your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once your vehicle receives this signal, it will activate the system, opening or locking doors, starting the engine, as well as opening the trunk. If you'd like to test out the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle and press the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries in order to function. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace it if yours runs out of batteries. To do this, first take the key hidden in your key fob, then access the battery compartment. Replace nissan key fob with a new one after removing the old one. Make sure that the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction it did with the original one. Finally close the battery compartment and return the hidden key to its hidden place inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to heat up or cool their car from outside the vehicle, if they are within operating range. The car's ignition is activated when the driver pushes an appropriate button on the key fob or smartphone application. Remote start systems can also trigger climate control that allows the driver to set their preferred temperature. Certain systems feature two-way communication that allow the driver to observe what is happening in their vehicle.
A low battery is the most common reason for your remote start not working. The key fob is powered by a small battery that can be replaced. It can last for around two years. The battery can be changed easily, however you will be required to know where the hidden key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to access the battery compartment.
Flip your fob inwards, and press the hidden latch on the backside of the keypad. After the keypad has been opened remove the batteries and replace them with new ones. Make sure that the new battery matches the size and configuration as the previous one. Before closing the outer case make sure the hidden key is inserted and the key fob has been reassembled correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection stops locks that are caused by impedance failure. A specific module within the power control unit checks the impedance relay's activity and then shuts down the output. This feature is available for vehicles with the Smart Key system, or via the personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was turned on when it was supposed to be completely turned off for maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually the result of the energy being not released correctly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can prevent these accidents by making sure that the machines remain off until an authorized person releases them.
The LOTO system consists of a set of locks tags, locks, and other equipment that are used to secure, isolate or shut off the machine from an electrical source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include but aren't limited to locks, chains padlocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, with the date and the time of application and the name of the authorized individual and the reason for the lockout or tag-out (repair, maintenance, etc). It must be clear that these devices can't be removed until a thorough LOTO procedure has been followed.
